Disneyland Resort is in Anaheim, southeast of LAX. There is no single best transfer for every traveler: the right option depends on arrival time, group size, luggage, car-seat needs, budget, and Southern California traffic.
Option 1: Rental car
A car gives you flexibility for hotels, beaches, and other attractions. At LAX, rental companies operate from the Consolidated Rent-A-Car facility. Until SkyLink opens to passengers, use the current signed shuttle instructions supplied by LAX and your rental company.
Remember to compare the full cost: rental rate, fuel, hotel parking, theme-park parking, tolls if any, and car-seat rental. Traffic can make travel time highly variable.
Option 2: Lyft, Uber, or taxi
Most standard ride-app pickups use the LAX-it lot next to Terminal 1. Follow green LAX-it signs and walk or take the free shuttle. Taxis also serve LAX-it. Eligible premium ride categories may display terminal-curb pickup in the app.
Check the live fare after collecting your luggage. Surge pricing and vehicle size matter, especially for a family with suitcases. If a child needs a car seat, arrange a compliant option in advance; availability is not guaranteed.
Option 3: Prearranged shuttle or private transfer
This is often the easiest choice for a larger group, multiple children, or substantial luggage. Confirm whether the service is shared or private, where the driver meets you, what happens after a delayed flight, and whether child seats are available.
Option 4: Public transportation
The LAX/Metro Transit Center opened in 2025 and serves the C and K Lines. Until the automated people mover opens, LAX provides a free shuttle between the terminals and the Metro station. A public-transit trip to Anaheim requires transfers and can take considerably longer than driving.
Routes and service notices change, so use the official Metro LAX trip information and a live trip planner on the day you travel. Public transit is most practical for travelers with light luggage, flexible timing, and comfort making transfers.
How long does the trip take?
There is no dependable fixed time. In light traffic, the drive can be manageable; during rush hour, incidents, or major events, it can take much longer. Check live navigation only after landing and build a generous buffer before dining reservations or ticketed plans.
Which option fits your trip?
- Solo traveler with one bag: rideshare is often straightforward.
- Family or group: compare a larger rideshare with a prearranged private transfer.
- Multi-stop vacation: a rental car may offer the most flexibility.
- Lowest-cost priority: check current public transit routes and allow extra time.
- Late-night arrival: verify operating hours before depending on transit or a shared shuttle.
Returning to LAX
Plan the return around your terminal arrival target: generally two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight. Add traffic, rental return, parking, or transfer time before that target.
